TORONTO, September 23, 2021 – As Ontario commences the first phase of its mandatory vaccination policy, the Toronto Region Board of Trade has developed a thorough and sector-specific resource to help businesses follow and exceed these guidelines.

Vaccination Mandates: What Your Business Should Know is designed to support businesses of all sizes across several sectors, helping them understand and implement their own mandatory vaccination policies. As one of the first advocates for mandatory vaccination policies in nonessential businesses, the Board created the guide for businesses to learn about:

  • How their business can best follow provincial vaccination requirements.
  • How other businesses in their sector are following the mandate.
  • References to medical exemptions and potential legal challenges.
  • How to acquire testing as an additional layer of protection.
  • Emerging technologies and apps that can support a robust return to office.
  • Proof of vaccination tools in other provincial and international jurisdictions.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have heard loud and clear from businesses that they welcome every tool available to ensure they can remain open and welcome people back,” said Jan De Silva, President and CEO of the Toronto Region Board of Trade. “The current vaccination policy is a good first step, but we have also heard their concern that implementation isn’t straight-forward. This guide aims to support businesses and leaders execute the Province’s mandate and keep people safe during this critical time.”

The guide – developed in partnership with Board members, as well as legal and health experts – is a first of its kind resource on the market.

“Despite Ontarians’ high vaccination rates we remain under significant restrictions, which have been in place longer than any other region in the world, as we work to address the Delta variant,” continued De Silva. “Along with getting vaccinated, we need to use available technology and best practices to safely support our workers, reopen our businesses and ensure the Toronto region remains globally attractive.”
