Summary

The Economic Blueprint Institute (EBI), which is the Toronto Region Board of Trade’s research and data arm, used the Peel region as a case study to analyze how talent pools can be better matched with in-demand jobs given pandemic-related disruptions.

To do this, they introduced a place-based analysis of existing talent and occupations in Peel. They then identify top in-demand occupations that do not require a four-year degree and propose a skills development framework that is more responsive to the changing realities of both workers and employers.

Through this analysis, it will be easier for Peel region’s system service managers to tailor services to engage in proactive labour market planning and talent development.
