TORONTO, April 7, 2022 — Today, the Toronto Region Board of Trade issued the following statement regarding the federal budget tabled by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland:

“The Toronto Region Board of Trade is focused on driving a strong growth agenda for our region. Budget 2022 takes steps in addressing Canada’s competitiveness and productivity challenges. More will be needed to achieve transformational change. Overall, measures must be stronger, more robust and delivered more quickly.

We were pleased to see detailed thinking reflected in the budget’s focus on accelerating the climate economy, including investments in renewing Ontario's auto sector and expanding EV infrastructure. This is the strategic and bold approach we would like to see replicated in other areas that expand business investment and growth, like innovation and housing.

We will be reviewing the budget in more depth to ensure our members voices continue to be heard.”
