"Hi,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, it is with deep regret that the Taoiseach has taken the decision not to travel to Canada for the planned Trade Mission, which has reluctantly been postponed including the inaugural Ireland-Canada Business Summit.

The Irish government are committed to rescheduling and will be in touch as soon as new dates are confirmed.

This postponement does not in any way diminish the strength and importance of the Ireland–Canada relationship. Irish companies employ 34,000 people across Canada, with Irish foreign direct investment standing at CA$17.7 billion, and that commitment by Irish companies to Canada remains as strong as ever.

Likewise Canadian companies employ over 26,000 people in Ireland and Ireland is the 3rd largest destination for Canadian direct investment in the EU. Leading Canadian brands such as Shopify, Sun Life, Canada Life, Clio, OpenText and many more leveraging Ireland’s pro-business environment and talent base to support and drive their European business.

We sincerely apologise to all our connections in Canada about this late change of plans, and look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you again soon.

We will be in touch,

Best regards,

David McCaffrey
