Buildings are responsible for 50% of GHG emissions, which is equivalent to the emissions from 5.4 million cars. A City of Toronto report shows it is possible to reduce building emissions by 80%. However, we are only on track for a 34% reduction at the current pace. To encourage more retrofits, the Board produced the Banking on Green Playbook, which dives into the economics of green retrofits, highlights four strategies coupled with case studies to maximize projects, and offers a list of financing programs and retrofit providers.
