The Board Applauds Government of Ontario’s Accelerated Reopening Plan

TORONTO, February 14, 2022 – The Toronto Region Board of Trade applauds today’s announcement by the Government of Ontario that will see capacity limits removed for several indoor settings where proof of vaccination is required, effective February 17, 2022. The Board of Trade is also encouraged by the government’s decision to increase capacity limits at sports, entertainment, and theatre venues across Ontario.

Today’s announcement from Premier Ford and his government is welcome news for many of the region’s businesses as they emerge from a very difficult start to 2022.

In addition to today’s announcement, and as we have said over the past six months, governments must now look to implement reopening plans that give businesses confidence that they will be able to stay open. That’s why we have urged the Government of Ontario to focus on sensible solutions that will ensure that future closures or severe restrictions on businesses will not be needed.

We remain hopeful that today’s announcement will bolster business confidence across our region. Over the coming days, we look forward to consulting with our member businesses on today’s announcement.
