government on issues that matter to our members. The goal of our
policy and advocacy is to enhance the global competitiveness and
liveability of the Toronto region. All of our strategies and
activities are based on feedback and guidance from our membership.
No other business organization is as effective and focused on
region-specific business-building issues.
Toronto Board of Trade members are passionate about the success and
growth of their region. They provide resources and input toward
the continual improvement of our city and our region.
Recent Success Stories
In April 2009, the Board launched its first annual Toronto as Global
City: Scorecard on Prosperity, a landmark research study benchmarking
the Toronto region’s performance against 20 other great global
cities on 25 economic and quality-of-life statistical indicators.
The Scorecard on Prosperity will help the Board and policy-makers
discern where best to target our efforts for improvement, as we pursue
our common goal of a globally competitive city-region.
In May 2009, the Board worked with a number of partner organizations
to convene the first-ever Greater Toronto Region Economic Summit.
This full-day forum was chaired by Mayor Hazel McCallion and John
Honderich, with approximately 300 delegates debating how to create an
action plan for the Greater Toronto Region’s economic recovery and
revitalization. The result was a series of actionable and
short-term recommendations to set the Greater Toronto
Region on the path to growth and prosperity.
